- are gifted in combination with one or more of the following:
divergent learning style, physical and/or neurobiological
disabilities that may include symptoms of ADHD,
Asperger's Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder,
Tourette's Syndrome, Bi-Polar Disorder, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, etc.
- are advanced in at least one of the following: vocabulary,
insight, imagination, abstract reasoning, problem solving skills.
- have deficits in at least one of the following: memorization,
computation, phonics or spelling, sequential tasks, organization.
- often exhibit negative classroom behaviors exacerbated by
unaddressed abilites and disabilities.
- are typically unidentified, misunderstood and often neglected in
mainstream, gifted or self-contained classrooms, as well as many
private/out-of-district placements.
- exist in greater numbers than our school districts and legislators
are aware of...
- have tremendous potential that will not be reached
without intervention and appropriate educational
programs.
